Warriors defeat Bengals in boys volleyball match
Brock Mitchell had 19 kills as Western's volleyball team came from
behind to defeat visiting Bonanza 10-15, 15-9, 15-11 Wednesday night.
Mitchell added 12 blocks, and Drew Albers had 29 assists for the Warriors.
Matt Curtis had 11 kills and 10 digs to lead the Bengals.
At Green Valley, Jeff Allen had 25 assists to lead the Gators past Rancho, 15-7,
Niels Jensen added seven kills for Green Valley, and teammate Greg Shavalier
had four kills.
At Mojave, Ryan Nelson had five service aces and 22 assists as Cheyenne beat
the Rattlers, 15-8, 15-2. Brian Williams had seven blocks to lead Mojave.
At Silverado, the Skyhawks defeated Eldorado 15-9, 15-13 behind Joe Rowe's 17
assists. Jason Thomas added five kills for Silverado.
At Chaparral, Mike Koch had six kills as the Cowboys beat Vo-Tech, 17-15, 15-6.
Brian Davis added four kills for Chaparral.
At Cimarron-Memorial, Durango cruised to a 15-7, 15-8 victory over the Spartans.
David Doxey led the Trailblazers with 21 assists. Durango's Oscar Poort collected
10 blocks, and Jason Brown added nine kills.
Mike Sagapolu led Cimarron with eight kills.
At Bishop Gorman, Mike Orton had 18 kills as Palo Verde defeated the Gaels 15-6,
Kenny Rolfe added eight kills for the Panthers. Gorman's Sam Visnic had 13 kills
and eight blocks.
At Valley, Basic beat the Vikings, 15-12, 15-2.

Jacque Hoover and Megan Lange won two events each
to lead Silverado's girls team to a 194-115 victory over Cimarron-Memorial
Hoover won the 50-yard freestyle (24.49 seconds) and 100 freestyle (53.34),
and Lange took the 500 freestyle (6:16.08) and 100 butterfly (1:10.82).
Cimarron's Jackie Hurley won the 200 freestyle (2:06.15) and 100 backstroke
Kurt Cady won the 200 freestyle (1:47.22) and 100 freestyle (49.04) to lead
Silverado's boys team past the Spartans, 198-102.
Kevan Moezzi won the 50 freestyle (22.90) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.94)
At Boulder City, Kara Lundgaard, Katie Tyler and Erin Holland won two events
each as Boulder City's girls team beat Faith Lutheran, 123-39.
Lundgaard won the 50 freestyle (25.87) and 100 backstroke (1:05.98), Tyler
took the 200 individual medley (2:18.83) and 100 butterfly (1:06.10), and
Holland won the 200 freestyle (2:06.51) and 500 freestyle (5:41.51).
In the boys meet, Boulder City won all but one event to beat Faith Lutheran,
Shane Hvinden won the 200 individual medley (2:27.70) and 100 backstroke
(1:09.70), Jeff Redlinger took the 100 butterfly (1:03.95) and 500 freestyle
(6:02.95), and Justin Kramer won the 50 freestyle (27.26) and 100 breaststroke
(1:17.83) for Boulder City.
At Basic, Las Vegas' boys team had three double-winners en route to a 118-99
victory over Vo-Tech.
Allen Florence won the 100 freestyle (1:00.84) and 200 freestyle (2:23.40),
Eric Santiago won the 100 butterfly (1:01.60) and 200 individual medley (2:21.92),
and Ryan Swift took the 50 freestyle (22.70) and 500 freestyle (5:06.65).
Colette Russell picked up victories in the 200 freestyle (2:31.93) and 100
freestyle (1:08.28) to lead Vo-Tech's girls past Las Vegas, 157-124.
Carol Cherry won the 100 butterfly (1:09.12) and 100 backstroke (1:13.93)
for Las Vegas.
At Boulder City, Brad Thompson won the 50 freestyle (24.13) and 100 freestyle
(54.59) as the Bishop Gorman boys team scored 82 points to defeat The Meadows
(66) and Valley (31).
Valley's Robert Law won the 200 individual medley (2:30.85) and 100 breaststroke
In the girls meet, Ashley Welsh won the 50 freestyle (26.54) and 100 freestyle
(59.72) as Gorman scored 141 points to defeat Valley (102) and The Meadows
Yaun Yao led Valley with victories in the 200 individual medley (2:20.31)
and 500 freestyle (5:27.79).

David Harrison won the high jump (5 feet, 10 inches)
and triple jump (44- 1/2) as Mojave finished with 198 points to defeat
Eldorado (123), Clark (83), Spring Mountain (51) and Trinity (32) in
the boys meet at Mojave.
Eldorado's Billy Joe Murray also won two events, taking first in the
shot put (43-8) and discus (134-1).
In the girls meet, Liticia Davis won the 100-meter dash (12.94 seconds)
and 200 (27.9) as Mojave scored 193 points to beat Eldorado (134), Clark
(66) and Trinity (41).
Trinity's Taryn Jordan won the shot put (32-9 1/2) and was a co-winner
in the discus (91-3).
Noralee Dodge led Eldorado with victories in the 800 (2:33.1) and 1,600
Clark's Claire Howard won the long jump (14-5) and triple jump (31-10
1/2) and tied for first in the high jump (4-8).
At Boulder City, Durango's boys team scored 159 to pull away from Moapa
Valley (118) host Boulder City (77), Mojave (18) and Laughlin (0).
Moapa Valley had the meet's only double-winners as Jake Keel took the
200 (23.3) and the triple jump (41-9), and Adam Mora swept the hurdle
events, winning the 110 in 15.3 and the 300 in 41.1.
On the girls side, Felicia Brown won the 100 (13.2) and 200 (27.7) as
Durango (156) beat Moapa Valley (109 1/2), Boulder City (62 1/2), Mojave
(28) and Laughlin (16).
Kim Ortega won the long jump (16-6) and triple jump (35-1) for Moapa
At Silverado, the Skyhawk boys won all 15 events, scoring 166 points
en route to victories over Chaparral (44), Western (31) and Valley (30)
in the boys meet.
In the girls meet, Nicole Wright (100, 200), Rachel Johnson (1,600, 3,200),
Lara Saye (shot put, discus) and Erin Whitesit (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles)
won two events each as Silverado collected 174 points to defeat Western
(44), Valley (27) and Chaparral (24).

Scott Wuellner fired par 36 as Bonanza edged Cheyenne
199-205 at Los Prados.
Jason Klemczak and Kit Van Riel shot 39 to lead Cheyenne.
At Rhodes Ranch, Justin Anderson shot par 36 to lead Durango to a
197-246 victory over Western.
Randy Creighton and Chad Fosburg added 39s for the Trailblazers.
At Boulder City Municipal, Brandon Doyon shot a 5-over 41 to lead
Boulder City over Eldorado, 215-252.
At Badlands, David Ducharme shot a 2-over-par 38 to lead Cimarron-Memorial
to a 216-245 victory over Mojave.
At Wildhorse, Silverado shot a 222 to defeat Valley, which forfeited
